Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD: Suicide Prevention

TEXAS  |  25,000+ STUDENTS  |  SAFETY MANAGEMENT FOR GOOGLE

Putting a Stop to Student Suicides

When Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District implemented our student safety solution, they gained another way to recognize and help students in crisis.

Keeping in Touch with 25,000+ Students

The Challenge:

The district relied on self- and peer-reporting and was managing a high number of suicide ideation and self-harm situations. Knowing that students who are in crisis aren’t always going to share their fears and worries with an adult, Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD in Texas wanted a technology platform that would put administrators, counselors, and teachers in closer touch with their 25,000+ students across its 37 campuses.

Working Together for Safer Schools

The Solution:

A few years ago, the district adopted Gaggle to monitor students' Google Accounts. Now the district has a crisis team that responds to Gaggle alerts. Working together, its counseling department and safety teams assess the urgency level and then respond accordingly.

A Proactive Approach for Student Safety

The Results:

By focusing on the root of the problem, Gaggle enables the district to address safety concerns in a much quicker fashion. Using Gaggle, its Anonymous Alerts app, and other tools, the district can take proactive steps to ensure that students are okay or confirm that they need assistance.
