DALLAS, TX (Jan. 28, 2021)  – Gaggle today announced it has renewed its commitment to protecting student privacy by signing the Future of Privacy Forum (FPF) and the Software & Information Industry Association’s (SIIA) Pledge 2020, a new Student Privacy Pledge that has been updated to better reflect the latest data privacy best practices.

“At Gaggle, we believe firmly in the importance of leveraging technology to help students, and to do so effectively and responsibly, we must also adhere to stringent protocol to safeguard sensitive personal information,” said Jeff Patterson, Gaggle’s founder and CEO. “We are pleased to reaffirm our commitment to protect student data by signing onto Pledge 2020.”

Gaggle was a supporter of the original Student Privacy Pledge that FPF and SIIA launched in 2016. The company has taken action to ensure all Gaggle platforms include enhanced data privacy and security features. In fact, Gaggle never shares anonymized or aggregate student data with any third parties. Gaggle’s data is stored in AWS and its own dedicated data center. Files are stored in an encrypted format, all communication is over secure SSL, and all passwords are hashed. Gaggle has always maintained clear terms regarding how it treats student and staff data, which can be viewed in the company’s Student & Staff Data Privacy Notice.
