4 Ways Parents Can Keep Kids Safe on Social Media

With the 2018-19 school year underway, children K-12 will be increasing the time spent on both school-provided technology and personal devices. Many parents find it difficult to keep up with the latest in social media, websites, and apps. Since these tools are constantly changing, they can pose a threat to the safety of children in and out of the classroom.

My Life Online has published an eBook to help parents communicate with their children to keep them safe, smart, and kind online.

They list four key conversations for parents to have with kids:

  1. Is the social media message hurtful or helpful?
  2. Does the message project or protect a child's online image?
  3. Is the message mindless, or mindful?
  4. How to handle online haters.

We like the idea of this important conversation starting at home in a non-threatening, positive manner. We hope you find it helpful too!
