1. Bunker Roy: Learning from a barefoot movement
Barefoot College founder, Bunker Roy, explains how and why he created a college in the village Rajasthan, India that teaches rural women and men. He gave up a high paying job because he wanted to give back. He has turned illiterate people into solar engineers, artisans, dentists and doctors. This talk is truly inspiring.
2. Salman Khan: Let’s use video to reinvent education
The creator of Khan Academ, Salman Khan, talks about how and why he created the series of educational videos. He reminds us of how interactive excercise in the classroom can be powerful, and why teachers should consider flipping the traditional classroom.
3. Sugata Mitra: The child-driven education
Why is it that the best teachers don’t teach in schools where they’re needed the most? Sugat Mitra, tackles this question by talking about real-life experiments where he gave kids access to the web and saw unbelievable results in their educational progress.
4. Rita Pierson: Every kid needs a champion
“Kids don’t learn from people they don’t like,’” states Rita Pierson. She gives an inspiring message to educators reminding them to connect with and believe in each of their students.
