How One School District Stays Ahead of the Safety Curve

As a school district leader, the safety of your students is a top priority. So when you attend a national conference that focuses on solving the educational challenges of today’s schools, where you learn about a company that helps keeps students safe when they’re using G Suite for Education or Office 365, you can’t help but get excited.

When you return to your campus after the conference, some of your administrators and principals might tell you that there aren’t issues of any significant concern when students use district-issued technology.

Unfortunately, this is becoming an all too familiar scenario to us. A school leader—whether it’s a superintendent, assistant or deputy superintendent, director of student services or someone else—wants to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to keeping students safe online, but meets resistance from others.

We’re grateful to Schuyler Community Schools (NE) Superintendent Dr. Dan Hoesing for sharing his story with us in a new case study. You will also learn:

  • How Schuyler is now more proactive in its efforts to stop cyberbullying and other potentially harmful incidents.
  • As a high-minority, first-generation school district, administrators and faculty use the online interactions students have with each other to learn more about their backgrounds.

“I think it’s human nature to want to believe our kids are not saying or doing anything inappropriate, but unfortunately, it does happen,” says Jeff Droge, Schuyler’s IT director, in the case study. “Gaggle opened our eyes to what was going on.”
