New Website Bridges the Communication Divide


When Gary Anger arrived at Zumbrota-Mazeppa School District as its new superintendent, one of his first objectives was to address a concern regarding the district’s communications systems.

“It was pretty apparent that the way we were getting the word out to our students, families and community members wasn’t as efficient as it could be,” he recalled. “Our website was kind of the model for that lack of communication.”

Described by many as disorganized and difficult to navigate, the district website didn’t answer questions from students and families or communicate relevant information, such as school closings, conference schedules and other timely messages. “It just wasn’t well structured,” Mr. Anger said. “It was added-to so often over the years and, in a way, became a jumbled mess.”
