Monitoring the Mental Health of 14,100 Students

The Challenge:

For Wichita Falls Independent School District, monitoring the mental and emotional health of 14,100 students across 26 campuses was difficult. It became near impossible when they implemented 1:1 Google Chromebooks without having a formal system in place.

Implementing New Mental Health Supports

The Solution:

When Wichita Falls ISD realized that it needed a more formalized approach to monitoring student mental health issues, it called on Gaggle for help. The district revamped their culture, implementing new physical, emotional, and social health supports, including student safety software for the Google platform.

At Least 10 Crises Have Been Averted

The Results:

Since implementing Gaggle, Wichita Falls ISD has used the student safety platform to intervene in at least 10 different situations that could have turned into crises had no one responded or helped out at the right time. In some cases, the Gaggle alerts prompted administrators to make calls to students’ homes at 2:00 AM or to make an impromptu home visit to thwart potentially dangerous situations.

As students were using technology both in and out of school, this New Jersey district wanted to make sure devices were being used safely and properly.
At the recommendation of the district’s superintendent, Vancouver Public Schools implemented Gaggle to help keep students safe when they use district-provided devices. Students, teachers, and administrators now have a centralized platform that they can rely on to monitor the use of technology and bring attention to serious issues.
Red Clay Consolidated School District in Wilmington, Delaware, is the largest district in the state, serving approximately 16,000 students. After experiencing sub-par service from two other safety solution providers, district administrators reverted back to Gaggle Safety Management for Google.
